CustomerReplies

Use case

How to train a chatbot on your website

Type your website address and CustomerReplies reads your pages, then answers customers only from them, with a link to the page it used. It reads up to 50 pages straight away and re-reads your site on a schedule. If an answer is wrong, you correct it once.

Who this is for

This is for you if your website already explains your products, prices and policies, and customers still ask the same questions. You have seen bots that make things up. You want one that learns from your real pages, shows where each answer came from, and stays current when you change your site.

How to do it in CustomerReplies

  1. Sign in. Go to /sign-in and enter your email. We send a 6-digit code. No password and no card.
  2. Type your website address. In onboarding, type your site's address. The agent reads up to 50 pages straight away.
  3. Choose what to read. On the Sources page, crawl the whole site or only chosen paths, like your help pages. Sitemaps are used and robots.txt is respected.
  4. Set re-sync. Choose daily or weekly re-sync so new pages and edits are picked up.
  5. Test in the Playground. Ask what your customers ask. Correct any wrong answer once; it becomes a saved answer.
  6. Go live. Copy the script tag from the Widget page into your site, or use the WordPress plugin.

How the agent answers

In strict mode the agent answers only from your sources. Each answer has a citation, a link to the page it used. The link guard removes links that are not in your sources. The fact guard marks answers with prices, phone numbers or emails that are not in your sources as low confidence.

When nothing in your pages answers the question, the agent says it doesn't know and can hand the chat to your team.

Fixing answers

Correct an answer once in the Playground and the agent gives your words from then on. Save test questions with must-have facts, and re-run them after you change your site.

Analytics shows an answer-gap report: the questions your pages don't answer, with a drafted answer you can check and add.

Adding more than your website

You can also add files (PDF, Word, TXT, Markdown, HTML, CSV), typed text, Q&A pairs, public Notion pages and Google Docs shared by link.

Try it before you sign up: on the home page, 'Try it on your website now' reads up to 15 pages of any site and lets you chat with the result.

When CustomerReplies is not the right tool

CustomerReplies is not the right tool if your website is thin or out of date. The agent can only be as good as your pages, so fix the pages first or add Q&A. It is also not right if you need answers in a language other than English. Private Notion and Google Drive folders, YouTube captions, and Zendesk, Freshdesk or Confluence help centres are in Beta. The first 3 months are free. After that you pay only for what you use, at our cost — no markup. Monthly plans are coming soon.
